MILK PRODUCTION IN THE PENZA REGION

Abstract

The article notes the role of dairy cattle breeding as the leading branch of agricultural production. An analysis of milk production in the Penza region is given, as well as data on the prospects for the development of dairy production in the near future. The role of dairy cattle breeding as one of the leading livestock sub-sectors of the region is noted. The change in the number of cattle (including cows) in the Penza region in 2011-2020 is considered. The number of cattle (including cows) in the Penza region in 2020 amounted to 157.3 thousand heads. The data on milk production in the Penza region for the period from 2011 to 2020 are given. In 2020, 384.2 thousand tons of milk were produced in the Penza region, which is 11.6% more than in 2019. The characteristics of the main milk producers in the Penza region are given. It was noted that the company «Rusmolco» has fully completed the project for the construction of a livestock complex for 7200 heads of dairy herds in the Serdobsky district of the Penza region. Analyzing milk production in the Penza region at the present time, it can be noted that as of January 1, 2022, the total number of cattle at the three dairy complexes of the Russian Dairy Company is 31,544 heads. Milk yield per forage cow increased by 6% compared to 2020 and amounted to 8514 kg. The forecast for the development of dairy production in the Penza region for the near future is given.
