Abstract

In the article an attempt was made to analyze the possibility of using diatomites as universal adsorbents in water purification. The use of diatomites without pretreatment or modification practically does not lead to softening of hard water. The best results were achieved in the results with alkaline activation. In the case of acid activation, additional washing up of diatomite is necessary to remove calcium and magnesium ions from the surfaces of macro- and mesopores of the sorbent.
