Abstract

The working process of single-screw extruders is based on the principle of energy dissipation, characterized by the transition of the energy of ordered processes (electric current energy) into the energy of disordered processes (heat energy) by scattering mechanical energy. It is obvious that part of the thermal energy in the form of heat of water vapor released from the extrudate at the time of decompression explosion is lost forever. The paper provides a justification for the design and technological scheme of the modernized extruder, which allows to increase the energy efficiency of its working process by replacing part of the energy of the electric drive of the machine with the energy (heat) of hot steam released from the extrudate during its intensive dehydration under low pressure.
